North Chicago Vocational Transitional Living Program

The North Chicago Vocational TLP provides young females a structured environment with resources to help them achieve self sufficiency and maintain permanent independence. We are a catalyst for change, for young women who may have social and emotional issues with little or no resources. We provide support services including individual and group counseling, case management, job readiness and job placement assistance.


School of Cosmetology

This curriculum, accredited by the Illinois State Department Board of Regulations, offers each student 1,500 hours in theory and practice to become a licensed beautician. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be prepared to take and pass the Illinois State Board Exam that will enable them to work in any licensed beauty salon.

Alternative School (Grades 9-12)


This curriculum provides a personalized learning environment where students are given the opportunity to work at their own pace, success level, interest and needs to be successful in completing their High School requirements while vocationally preparing students for future employment.

CNA Certified Nursing Assistant

This curriculum, accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education and approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health, offers each student 140 hours of training, which includes theory and practicum. Upon successful completion of this course students will be prepared to take and pass the Illinois State Board Exam, which will qualify them to work in a hospital, nursing home, doctor’s office or private duty/homecare as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

GED General Educational Development*

This curriculum, accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education, offers instruction in the areas of Language Writing, Language Reading, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, and the U.S. and State Constitution. The course is conducted by a certified instructor who is available to provide assistance in all subject areas and prepare students to take and pass their G.E.D. exam.

Model Office/Basic Office Skills*

This curriculum offers students appropriate methods of written and verbal communication for maintaining an office: telephone etiquette, typing, letter writing, filing, presentation skills, dressing for success, and time management. Students will learn and develop skills needed to participate in the overall basic activities of an office: processing office mail, records management, and becoming familiar with fax machines and copiers. Students will also build their technical skills using current business computer software applications.

Child Development Program

This curriculum, accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education, offers students the 6 Child Development Associate goals and the 13 functional areas of child growth and development. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be prepared to take and pass the National Child Associate Development Assessment exam which will enable them to be qualified to work in a licensed day care as a lead teacher or operate the own home day care center.
